Tewis Elzinga (1944), former M.D., is sculpturing since 1956. During his high school years he was tutored by the sculptor Marcus Ravenswaaij. In the years thereafter he followed classes with sculptors Nick Joosten, Karel Gomez, Lia van Vught, Joop Hollanders and Leo van den Bos. He worked in marble with Christien Sielcken in Pietrasanta, Italy.


His immediate surroundings are his source of inspiration. Tewis expresses his emotions in bronze, stone, wood and other materials.


His sculpture is characteristic with a focus on lines and movement.


There is work of him in the USA, Belgium, Israel, Italy and Switzerland.
